Dos and don'ts in treating dry skin

dry skin products

Whether it’s a seasonal concern or something you struggle with all year round, dry or dehydrated skin comes with a lot of issues, most of us want to avoid. Cracked and fragile skin are just some of the painful symptoms of thirsty skin.

Here’s how you can be extra kind to your skin when it needs a helping hand.

DO: Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize

You’ve probably heard it lots of times before, but that doesn’t make it any less correct. Applying a great moisturizer to your skincare collection is never a bad idea – and can be an essential step in defeating flaky and irritated skin. Make sure you always provide your skin with the hydration and moisture it’s probably longing for.

PRO TIP: Use our Intense Hyaluronic Mask 1-2 times per week for an intense and immediate hydration-boost. Containing skin-replenishing hyaluronic acid and enriched with nourishing vitamins, this wonderworker will leave your skin dewy, smooth, and soft to the touch.

DON’T: You're hot then you're cold

… You’re yes then you’re no… no, but really. While a hot shower might feel much needed after a long day out in the cold, exaggerated temperatures can dry out your skin, which is why it’s worth considering using warm water instead of hot, while also reducing the length of your bath. Your skin will thank us later – and so will your water bills!

DO: Use fabrics that treat your skin well

Soft fabrics such as cotton and silk feel extra comfortable because they allow our skin to breathe. No matter your skin type, these are always a safe choice for your wardrobe when it comes to avoiding irritated skin. And remember to count your pillowcase in, as you spend multiple hours rubbing your skin against it’s surface.

BONUS TIP: When washing your clothes, try to avoid detergents and fabric softeners containing unwanted chemicals and synthetic perfume, as they can end up causing allergies and skin irritations.

Nourishing body oil

DON’T: Forget about the rest of your body

When treating our skin, most of us tend to only focus on our face, as that is what we firstly present to the world around us. But dry skin can happen all over the body, which is why it’s important to be mindful of treating every area in need. Use a great hand-, foot-, and body lotion or oil to achieve the best results and get rid of irritated skin once and for all. Our all-natural Nourishing Body Oil is an intensive hydrator packed with beneficial cloudberry, wheat germ oil and organic blueberry seed oil that will leave your skin feeling silky and healthy. If you feel your skin craving an extra boost, reach for our Niacinamide Repair Body Lotion. With the addition of the versatile benefits of 5% niacinamide, this body lotion not only contains the properties to intensely hydrate and nourish, but also strengthen and optimize dry and tired skin.

Psst! When moisturizing your feet at night, sleep in socks, as it allows the hydration to absorb better.

DO: Exfoliate to eliminate

Exfoliating is an essential step in every beauty routine – especially if you’re dealing with dry skin. The removal of dead skin cells will reveal fresher skin beneath and also allow your moisturizer to penetrate the skin more effectively. Our Deep Cleansing Scrub is an exfoliating scrub made of glycolic acid and multi-sized micrograins of natural volcanic rhyalite to deep cleanse all layers of the skin, leaving it purified and ready for all the benefits of the following products. If your skin is sensitive or irritated, we recommend that you opt out of physical exfoliations and instead turn to a chemical one, such as our enriching Deep Cleansing Mask with the milder exfoliating properties of both salicylic and glycolic acid.

DO: Listen to your skin
