Why do I flush red?
To be completely honest with you, there’s no definite answer to that. Redness can be caused by various factors such as your mood, weather conditions, and over-exfoliating, but can also be a sign of something more serious like allergies and skin disorders such as rosacea or eczema. And you’re the only one who can really determine how much your redness affects you. If your skin is irritated, painful, or causing you poor self-conscience, we would always advice you to consult a dermatologist, who can better determine what your skin is trying to tell you.
Skin-calming ingredients
So, how do you come to terms with your redness? The harsh truth is that it’s not always possible to completely prevent your skin from flushing. However, there’re remedies that can help minimize the appearance of redness:
The first step is to observe your redness: Be cautious of when your skin seems to flush and what might be causing it. Does it happen after using a specific product, after eating something particular, or when you’re feeling a certain type of way? This can also help you get an overview of how serious your condition might be. Here're some wonderful ingredients to soothe inflammatory and sensitive skin, you can also try to implement in your skincare regime:
Aloe vera
If you experience rashes, burns, and irritated skin, aloe vera might be the calming ingredient you’ve been searching for. Aloe vera has anti-inflammatory, anti-irritating, and moisturizing properties that help soothe skin in reaction. You can find this wonderful ingredient in lots of our products, but we especially adore it in our Intense Hyaluronic Mask, which is the perfect treatment to calm both your mind and skin.
Vitamin E
An indispensable ingredient for many good reasons. This powerful antioxidant effectively neutralizes free radicals, repairs, and smooths skin, making it an ideal ingredient for your redness-treating routine. Vitamin E possesses the ability to decrease inflammation, meaning it'll work to minimize redness to leave you with a bright and even complexion. Our nourishing serum, Vitamin E Serum, is the perfect way to get your daily dose of this wonder-ingredient – the perfect treat for red, sensitive skin.
Niacinamide
Niacinamide, also known as Vitamin B3, is an essential nutrient known for its ability to effectively reduce inflammation, which helps minimize redness caused by conditions such as eczema and acne. With our handbag-sized Niacinamide Lifting Mist, there’s simply no excuse to not cater for your skin with this nutritious ingredient.
Hyaluronic acid
As you may know, moisture is the holy grail when it comes to healthy skin – which is why it’s important to use products that boost the skin’s moisture content. And there’re tons of benefits of having well-hydrated skin, as it's key to preventing dryness and irritations. Our soothing Daily Hydra Cream (Sensitive) is made with sensitive skin types in mind and is completely fragrance-free. Simply a lightweight daily cream formulated with hydrating hyaluronic acid and soothing natural red seaweed for a daily boost of indulgence.
Keep it simple
As mentioned, the key to defeating redness is to be aware of what works for your exact skin and what doesn’t. Unfortunately, there’s no miracle cure that magically works for everyone, as sensitive and inflammatory skin can behave in various ways.
Enrich your skincare routine with hydrating and soothing products without synthetic fragrances – and most importantly: Keep it simple.
