Benefits of sunscreen
There’re various reasons why sunscreen should always be the last step in your daily skincare ritual. The most serious is naturally that sunscreen is an essential product to prevent skin cancer, but a generous layer of sunscreen can also protect your skin from other damaging factors such as sun spots, sunburns, and premature signs of aging.
A sunscreen with broad-spectrum filters, such as woods_ copenhagen sunscreens, will protect the skin against harmful UVA and UVB rays from the sun.
A sunscreen can filter out UV rays via either chemical or physical filters. Whereas physical filters remain on the skin’s surface as a mirror to deflect the rays, the chemical filters absorb into the skin to convert rays to harmless heat waves. Every woods_ sunscreen is created with chemical filters.
FAQ
Dry skin?
Sunscreens not only possess protecting properties, but also contain hydrating ingredients that can effectively treat dry skin. For example, woods_ sunscreens contain both vitamin E and organic aloe vera which, when blended, have soothing, cooling, and smoothing effects on the skin.
Oily and breakout-prone skin?
It can be beneficial for oily skin types to choose a lightweight formula that won’t clog pores but still provide the necessary protection. That’s exactly why our sunscreens contain a nourishing formula that won’t clog the pores or leave the skin sticky and greasy.
Sunscreen for sensitive skin?
Sensitive skin means attention towards ingredient lists. At woods_, you’ll find solely fragrance-free sunscreens with organic formulas containing blends of natural but highly effective ingredients that’ll work to anti-irritate and soothe the skin.
When should I use sunscreen?
Unfortunately, many people believe that sunscreen is only necessary when in direct sunlight. But actually, the sun’s UV rays can easily penetrate both clouds and for example reflect in water and snow. Sunscreen is therefore also necessary during the colder months and is always a good way to make sure your skin stays protected.
How often should I apply sunscreen?
For maximum effect, sunscreen should be applied every other hour, especially after swimming, sweating, or if you’re in direct sunlight. If your sun exposure is minimal during the day, another layer might not be necessary.
Which SPF level should I use?
SPF I short for ‘sun protection factor’ and defines the level of protection that is applied to your skin. These sun filters are also what block the sun’s rays from damaging the skin.
What factor you choose to use should depend on what your skin is subjected to during the day. It’s therefore not unimportant whether you reach for an SPF30 or SPF50 when getting ready in the morning. If your day includes low sun exposure, SPF30 should be sufficient protection.
On the contrary, if you’re going to be outside for longer periods of time and especially in direct or strong sun, we always recommend that you cover your skin with a protecting layer of SPF50. Generally, if you’re in doubt, the safest choice is always SPF50, as this will provide the skin with the best protection.
The essential part is that you’re sure that the sunscreen is evenly applied on your whole body and face.
